This African statue is hand carved from a single piece of Sese Wood. This tribal statue represents and displayed in “rites of passage' and initiation ceremonies. Used in rituals where adolescent men are seen to be become men within the Punu Tribe of Gabon. It is common for the faces to be white as it is seen to hoard of evil spirits.
